What L Class Certification means
"L" is the dust class for light hazardous dust: dusts with a workplace exposure limit (WEL) above 1 mg/m³. The Vacmaster WD L20 and WD L38 are each independently certified for the safe extraction of these dusts, so you can match the machine to the material instead of relying on a general-purpose vacuum.
- Typical L class materials:Gypsum dust from plasterboard joint sanding, where L-class extraction is permitted. For wood dust, use an M-class or H-class extractor, as recommended by UK HSE.
- Typical settings: workshops, trade premises and manufacturing environments handling dusts confirmed suitable for Class L extraction. Construction-site work requires a task-specific dust assessment.
- Know the limit: L class covers dusts with a WEL above 1 mg/m³ only. If your material calls for M class or H class extraction, choose a machine certified to that class. Both models on this page are L class.
WD L20 or WD L38?
Both machines share the same core: a 1600W twin-fan bypass motor with 260 air watts, a maximum airflow of 52 L/s and 27 kPa vacuum pressure, a 1390W power take-off socket, a stainless steel collection tank and an air flow control handle. The key differences are tank capacity, working reach, hose diameter and supplied accessories.
- Vacmaster WD L20 — 20 litre tank. 3.5m crush resistant 35mm hose and 5m cable for a working reach of approx. 9.5m. HEPA 13 cartridge filter, HEPA 13 exhaust filter and a washable pre-filter.
- Vacmaster WD L38 — 38 litre tank. 3.05m crush resistant hose and 9m cable for a working reach of approx. 13m. HEPA cartridge filter, HEPA 13 post-motor filter, washable pre-filter and a Hygiene Seal dust bag.
- Dust class: L, for dusts with a WEL above 1 mg/m³
- Filtration: 99.95% of dust and allergen particles down to 0.3 microns
